This allows up to three Passports and/or a few CD's / DVD's of backed up data to be secured on top and the bottom half of both can be used to secure jewellery, cash, spare keys or other small valuables. These and other items can also be secured in the Insert Boxes at either end. To secure Birth Certificates, Insurance Policies and other documents, remove the first three Insert Boxes, place the documents in the Safe Box then, replace the Insert Boxes. NB: Up to 12 thicknesses of standard 80 gram paper can be placed under the Insert Boxes.
Lexan Passport Safe Manufactured From Lexan Polycarbonate
Lexan Passport Safe is manufactured from Lexan ®, a General Electric Trademarked Impact Modified Polycarbonate known world-wide for its great strength, extremely high impact resistance and heat resistant properties. Lexan is also Incredibly Light-Weight, but as Tough as Steel and is Virtually Indestructible.
A resilient memory material which makes the Passport Safe prise-proof, even assuming that a thief finds it in the first place. Lexan Polycarbonate is so strong it is used in high security applications to manufacture products such as:
- Space Shuttle windows. You can imaging how strong windows have to be in Space.
- Bullet-resistant windows.
- Bank security screens.
- Clear canopies over the pilots of fighter jets.
- Police riot shields.
- Mirrors in jails.
- And of course the Passport Safe.
The Passport Safe was designed as a high security, light-weight anti-theft device. The selection of the material was primarily with consideration for impact resistance and overall strength.
NB: Lexan Polycarbonate is extremely heat insulative but it is not officially classified as fire resistant because no official testing has been carried out because the Hide Away Safe Co, the manufacturer, is the only manufacturer in the World to make a High Security Safe from Lexan.
The fire resistant aspect of Lexan Polycarbonate is a bonus to purchaser but not the primary consideration in terms of design or application.
Please Note: In Australia regarding theft versus fire it is in the order of 820 occasions to one. That means there is 1 fire claim (that could be just a minor kitchen stove fire) to every 820 claims of theft. As you can see fire IS NOT really a major concern.
